SOUND MEDITATION

What is sound meditation?

A sound meditation, or sound bath, is a transformative process. Participants lie down and listen to sound waves guided by a practitioner. Sound frequencies are intuitive, intelligent forces that work in the areas the participant needs most. This often brings states of positive emotions such as relaxation, contentment, and peace. It can also facilitate the release of stagnant or negative emotions and boost physical health.

Sound works through two primary forces — resonance and entrainment. Resonance is the force or amplitude of the vibration. Entrainment is the tendency of different frequencies (vibrations) to align rhythmically. A stronger vibration will tend to entrain a weaker vibration into the same vibration.

Everything is composed of vibration, even the smallest component of a cell in your body. Therefore, everything is capable of being affected by resonance and entrainment. Rhythm and vibration abound, often impacting us beyond our conscious recognition.

The intention of the sound practitioner, the participant’s intention in joining, and the vibrations emitted from the instruments work together to create beneficial change. Often, sound amplifies positive emotions and fosters deep states of serenity. Other times, sound can surface and release negative emotions, freeing the participant from past patterns. Occasionally, positive and negative emotions can both present during a session. Sound meditation is a profound and mystical process.

Why sound meditation?

Ever-present and accessible to all, yet infinite in possibility.

We all want peace, harmony, and contentment. Sound meditation is an effective tool for cultivating these states and letting go of blockages that reduce our access to them. By immersing ourselves in positive states, we open our hearts.

Sound meditation is universally accessible, and requires no experience for participants to benefit. An advanced meditator gets the same benefit as a beginner because the intuitive nature of the sound meets the participant where they are at.

Sound meditation works for individuals and for groups and is open to everyone. It requires no belief system, just receptivity. Sound meditation helps foster deep connection within. It allows us to be present and find clarity and meaning in life.

What is the process?

Sound meditation is an interactive experience. It is a beautiful listening exercise for the practitioner and the participants. I tune into the group’s energy and play from the heart. Every meditation is unique to the specific group and that moment in time.

If you are interested in booking a group event, I start by understanding the group's needs and intentions. After we align on the goals, the format and details flow from there. I enjoy tailoring the experience, and have a background in hospitality and events which is often helpful to clients.

On the day of the event, I bring an array of meticulously sourced instruments for the sound meditation — gemstone-infused crystal bowls, a Tone of Life water gong, didgeridoo, flutes, Shruti box, wind wands, and others to create a moving, sacred soundscape.

Sound meditations range from half an hour to an hour. I am available afterward to answer questions and discuss the experience.
